As part of this partnership, we are proud to announce that Zack Brasher will be sponsored by Knox Leisureworks with a 12 months Platinum Membership!

Sam is our Junior Vice-President and took on the role of Boronia Auskick Co-ordinator at the start of this year.   Boronia Auskick has gone from strength to strength under her guidance, with 105 registered players getting out for a kick on Friday nights at Tormore Reserve.

Sam has got it all running smoothly, reflecting her training as a teacher.  Parents are getting involved in running the groups and we have senior players from both our men’s and women’s teams actively involved in helping the kids to develop their skills.

Sam has brought an enormous passion and commitment to Boronia Auskick, resulting in some great initiatives.  She has brought sponsors Boronia McDonalds and Lipari Pizza on board to assist with funding of new equipment including footballs and water bottles.  Sam has also introduced a Sensory Space to assist the kids who might get a little overwhelmed by everything and just need a quiet spot for a while.

Sam’s contribution to the Boronia Auskick has seen a real boost to our junior numbers with many Auskickers also choosing to play junior footy with Boronia Hawks.  Our two new Under 8’s teams are a direct result of the boost to our Auskick program over the past two years.

Outside the Locker Room

Boronia Hawks hosted a terrific session on Thursday 6 June with our Outside the Locker Room: Welfare & Education Program.

Outside-The-Locker-Room

We welcomed Shane (facilitator) and Cindy (welfare champion) from OTLR to the Club and they were very impressed to see such a great attendance. Cindy commented the she normally gets around all the tables but that it just wasn’t possible last night due to the size of the group.

IMG_9316

Congratulations to one of our players who spoke openly to the group last night to share his journey with mental welfare. This willingness to talk about the issues triggered a lot of really beneficial conversations throughout the room. It so often helps to talk to others.

Many thanks to Wayne Preston for his work in arranging the session. We can really look forward to a second session in around six weeks that will cover “Culture and Leadership.

Please join us in thanking OTLR. https://www.otlr.com.au

“Outside the Locker Room” – part of the Boronia Hawks Welfare and Education Program.

Outside-The-Locker-Room

Boronia Hawks is dedicated to providing our players access to the best welfare programs available.

In 2019 we have engaged Outside the Locker Room to assist us in our Welfare and Education Program by conducting at least two workshops that are specifically designed for young people involved in sporting clubs, focussing on education and support for facing life’s daily challenges.

The first workshop will be held on Thursday 6 June from 7:30pm to 9:00pm in our Club Rooms at Tormore Reserve.

This is a one of a kind program for local clubs to have players mentored by the team at OTLR over a 12 months period.

All senior football and netball players with the Hawks are expected to attend this first workshop as a show of support for team mates.

Coaches will put in place a revised coaching timetable for the night, with times to advised shortly.

Meals will be available at the Club from 6:30pm as per other Thursday nights.

Please follow this link to learn more about Outside the Locker Room.

Landscaping Work Commences at Tormore Reserve!

Knox City Council has just commenced phase 2 of the Tormore Reserve Master Plan that will see additional landscaping and facilities on the grass area between the main gate and the play ground.

Work will continue for 6 weeks, 6 days a week including Saturdays, with a resulting impact on parking availability.

The landscaping will include a picnic area, a multi-purpose flexi pave area, more trees, more paths and pedestrian lighting to improve the overall amenity of the park surrounding the oval.

Tormore Master Plan Phase 2

Under 16 Girls Team join forces with Knox.

Over the last few weeks we have been in discussion with Knox Football Netball Club regarding low numbers in both Boronia and Knox Under 16 Girls teams. We have now come together in a merger for the remainder of the 2019 Season.

Boronia Hawks would like to welcome all Knox Under 16 Girls players and families to our community and we look forward to a great season ahead. The girls play this Sunday at 12.55pm at Tormore Reserve. Get down and show your support.

A great outcome for the Under 16 Girls, who just want to play footy! Well done by Ellisa Schmidtke and the Junior Committee to get the team up and running, with fantastic support from our Senior Women’s Team.
