Meet the New Masters Coaches at Boronia Hawks

Boronia Hawks FNC is delighted to announce that taking the reins on another season for our Masters side will be Ray Lacey and Dave O’Reilly. These two have been a huge part of Boronia’s programs for women and girls since its inception in 2018.

Ray was one our inaugural Senior Women’s coaches, coaching the Seniors for three seasons before becoming our inaugural Development coach in 2021. His legacy at Boronia continues to grow off field, adding to his EFNL and Club life memberships, three Bob Henry medals, two Senior Premierships and club record for games played!

Dave continues in the role after supporting Stacey Peril in our first Masters season in 2023. Dave has played a key role in supporting the squad on game day and at training, assisting in the development of many of our players who are new to the game. Dave has previously coached some of our junior girls teams as well, highlighting his contribution to the program.

We’re excited to have Ray and Dave at the helm for our Masters team, now in its third season! The Squad is growing and still looking for more players for the 2025 season! If you’re interested in getting involved please contact the club on boronia@efnl.org.au.

2024 COACHING APPOINTMENT | PERIL

Boronia Hawks are delighted to announce that Stacey Peril has been reappointed as Masters Coach for the 2024 season.

Stacey was our inaugural coach in 2023 and lead the team through their first season as the player numbers grew along with the team development and enjoyment. Stacey has played with Boronia since 2018 and in 2023 she played her 50th game and also represented Vic Country in Masters Football. She has been actively involved with the Hawks as a junior mum, committee member, junior coach, senior player and now continues as Masters Coach.

Please join us all in thanking Stacey for her loyalty and commitment to the Hawks.

Boronia Hawks are very excited to announce that the full coaching panel for the men’s senior teams is now complete with the appointment of Jess Bolton as Men’s Development Squad Coach for 2024.

Jess is without doubt one of our finest and most decorated players over the past twenty years. He will bring a very strong game sense and enormous experience to the role as a playing coach.

Bolts will be joined by two great Hawks in their own right – Brocky and Cats.

Please join us all in thanking Jess Bolton, Craig Brockley and Andrew Catley for their loyalty and commitment to the Hawks.

COACHING ANNOUNCEMENTS | SENIOR WOMEN’S FOOTBALL

Boronia Hawks are excited to announce the appointment of Candyce Harris and Jordan Granland as Co-Coaches of the Boronia Women’s Development Team for the 2024 season.

Candyce has been a part of the club’s women’s program since 2018, initially as a player before transitioning into coaching, now entering her fourth season coaching within the Development Squad. Candyce brings to the squad a passion and commitment for women’s sport and will continue to give players a welcoming and supportive environment for their football.

Elevated into the position of co-coach is Jordan Granland, who will continue to bring a wealth of football knowledge and coaching experience to the Development Squad after initially joining as an Assistant Coach in 2023. Jordy is a former senior player with Boronia and has coached seven years of junior football at Boronia and other clubs including four Grand Final appearances!

Announcement | 2024 Senior Women’s Coaches

Boronia Hawks are excited to announce the Senior Women’s Coaching panel for the 2024 season. The coaches who took the team through the finals to win the Division 1 premiership have all been re-appointed.

Please join us all in congratulating Scott Nicholas as head coach and assistants Nicole Guy and Lachie Watson, while Brad Slater is appointed in a new role as Senior Women’s Performance Manager.

We are fortunate to have these four coaches with strong experience with women’s football programs. They have been instrumental in developing our team culture, values and game plans and empowering our players to take on their own leadership within the squad. We look forward to the coaches and players continuing their development pathways and to achieving successful outcomes again in the coming season.

Scott Nicholas has been appointed to coach our Senior Women’s Team for the sixth season following the 2023 Division 1 premiership. Scott is now widely recognised as a leading Women’s coach in the EFNL and was the league’s Senior Coach of the Year, across men and women’s football, in 2021. He was also named as Coach of the 2023 Division 1 Team of the Year.

Nicole Guy was welcomed to the Hawks’ coaching panel during the 2023 season, coming over from Ferntree Gully. She won one B&F with FTG and was also runner up B&F, despite suffering two severe knee injuries in each of her two seasons. The injuries curtailed her playing career, so she began coaching, including the 2022 season in Premier Division alongside Tim Cavanagh. Nicole very quickly became a valued part of the Boronia coaching team and played a key role in the latter part of the season.

Lachie Watson will continue in his role as Senior Assistant Coach, having been with the team from the first season in 2018. Lachie is well known to all Hawks supporters for his explosive football skills since he came up from the juniors. He now applies his excellent football brain and teaching skills to our Women’s Program again in 2024.

Brad Slater will take up a new role as Senior Women’s Performance Manager in 2024. He has been part of Boronia’s coaching team for two years and brings enormous experience to the squad. He played over 200 games at Mitcham in Division 1 before an extensive coaching career, most recently with St. Simons and Rowville Knights where he coached Under 15, Under 16 and Under 18 girls from 2016-2020.
