Congratulations to three of our senior men’s players who have been named in the best players in all the metropolitan leagues for 2023. Well done boys!

Ben Robertson: Finished equal-third in the Eastern Division 2 goalkicking this year with 50 majors from 19 matches, helping Boronia to the top of the ladder and the premiership. Capped off a stellar campaign with four goals in the grand final victory over Heathmont.

Josh Begley: Potent through the middle and in attack, the ex-AFL Bomber hauled in big numbers in his return to the league this season, kicking 50 goals from 19 games among a string of high possession counts across the season. A key part in Boronia’s premiership-winning campaign in Eastern’s Division 2 this year, which lost just one match all season.

Mitch Mellis: The lightning-quick 22-year-old midfielder took home Eastern’s Division 2 best and fairest this season, and was a key part of a Boronia outfit which has finished top of the ladder season on the way to the flag. Ruck rover in the Team of the Year.

A Xmas Message from Flash

This year has been most memorable indeed. Two Senior Premierships are feats most clubs can only dream about! At ‘The Hawka’, we do dream, we dream big, but we then do!

Thank you to the magnificent players who donned the Hawka jumper in 2023. You all made us proud! Thank you to the coaches, trainers, and tireless volunteers who work behind the scenes to enable our club to function effectively, and thank you to our supporters who turn up week in and week out cheering loudly and giving our players the 5% extra support over the opposition which can at times win us matches.

I had the pleasure recently of spending a weekend away with some lifelong Boronia mates talking about just how fortunate we have all been to have been associated and connected with our club. We were all grateful for the friendships and experiences we have all shared together, some good, some not so good but we still enjoy a catch-up after 40 years!! This is what our club can offer, does offer, and will continue to offer!!

We will continue in the off-season to enhance our playing lists, plan the intricate design details of the new pavilion, and detail our social calendars for season 2024!

Once again, enjoy your well-deserved break and we’ll see you all next season! Wishing you all a safe and Happy Xmas!!!

Shayne who is the Centre Manager at Ringwood Training has been a long-time supporter of our club and it was great to catch up with him and Rosina Fotia, who is the school principal at Ringwood Secondary College, to personally thank them for all their support.

Ringwood Training (RT) is a dedicated campus at Ringwood Secondary College. They deliver Vocational Education and Training qualifications to post-school and school-based students in three industry areas – Automotive, Engineering Fabrication and Information Communication Technology (ICT).

If you have ever wondered about furthering your education in any of these areas please feel free to contact Shayne who would be more than happy to give you a tour of their facilities and answer any questions.

Thanks for your ongoing support Shayne and Rosina and we hope that our Premiership successes gave you some joy.

As the tour of the cups nears its end we finally got to catch up Brendan Lee who owns and manages John Alan Betta Home Living in the Knox Ozone district. Brendan has been supporting the club since 1980 and a loyal contributor of products that we use throughout the year in our raffles.

Thank you again Brendan for the many years of support and were glad we could share our success with you and the team.

Another local business supporting the club got a visit today. Summit Workwear & Safety is owned and operated by Steve & Nikki Mancer who jumped onto the Hawka bandwagon a few years ago. Being passionate Hawthorn supporters it made sense that they support the local Hawks.

The tour of the cups would not be complete without passing by YourClubroom who this year became our official Merchandise Partner.

We have been working Jayden & Damon hard behind the scenes in developing our new look which was on full display at all our Grand Final triumphs. How good was it to look back at the photos and seeing the proud Hawka faithful all in their new polos, hoodies, beanies and scarfs! It really was an imposing sight and was a showcase of the enormous support in the crowds.

We can’t thank YourClubroom enough for their patience and dedication in creating our new brand. Stay tuned for a few more new merch that we have them working on for 2024!

Stockdale & Leggo Ferntree Gully are one of our newer sponsors, managed by Janine Rule. They provide us with all our promotional billboards that you will see around Boronia advertising our great club with any offers that we are running at the time.

Janine has been a long-time supporter of Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club and was rapt to see us with the four premiership cups when we dropped by at her office for a photo opportunity.

If you are thinking of selling, renting or just need some advice on the market feel free to give Janine a call on 0417 160 423.

Thanks again Janine for your support in 2023!

Kat McMahon stepped down as Chair of the Club’s Board of Directors at the recent AGM. We all wish to express our thanks to Kat for the important work she helped to deliver for the club.

Kat McMahon

Kat’s expertise was essential in the roll-out of our Square project including the IT hardware, the new online store and the associated upgrade of our comm’s network at Tormore with Your Local Telecom. Kat also played a key role in the review of our club branding and the resultant partnership with Your Clubroom to deliver our very successful new range of club apparel and merchandise.

Though she has retired from netball and footy with the Hawka, Kat played an important support role in the Women’s Senior Team as the Premiership Statistician! She rounded off the season by managing the very successful hosting of the Division 1 Men’s Finals Series at Tormore.

Please join us all in thanking Kat for her contribution to the club.

Craig Brockley! What more can we say about this great man that hasn’t already been said! A two-time premiership coach, a mentor to all players and just a ripping bloke!

Craig owns and operates Brighton Gas who has been sponsoring our club since 2018. Although you see the Brighton Gas logo on our merch and around the club, there is a lot more to Craig’s sponsorship that people don’t see.

Thanks Brocky for your generosity and commitment to the club over the past 6 years! Can’t wait to see you on the other side of the fence watching games next year.
