We’re proud to confirm that Ben Robertson has re-signed with the Boronia Hawks for the 2026 season!

Robbo is one of the true heart-and-soul players of our football club. Whether it’s helping lead from the front, mentoring others, or stepping up in the biggest moments, he always puts the club first.

A 3× Senior Premiership Player – 2018, 2023, 2024; Closing in on 300 career goals for the Hawka over 180 Senior Games; EFNL Division 2 Team of the Year.

Ben has kicked 50+ goals in multiple seasons and remains one of the most dangerous and consistent forwards in the comp. But more than that, he’s a foundation of what makes this club special. His loyalty, passion, and team-first attitude have been instrumental in building the culture that’s delivered three premierships in six years. We’re pumped to have Robbo locked in for 2026. Let’s go, big fella!

Big Robbo came to the Hawks from the VAFA in 2010 and has amassed 212 goals in his 155 games. He has been a huge contributor in the 2018 and 2023 flags; but most of all, he is a great club person and a heart and soul player for the Hawks.

Congratulations to three of our senior men’s players who have been named in the best players in all the metropolitan leagues for 2023. Well done boys!

Ben Robertson: Finished equal-third in the Eastern Division 2 goalkicking this year with 50 majors from 19 matches, helping Boronia to the top of the ladder and the premiership. Capped off a stellar campaign with four goals in the grand final victory over Heathmont.

Josh Begley: Potent through the middle and in attack, the ex-AFL Bomber hauled in big numbers in his return to the league this season, kicking 50 goals from 19 games among a string of high possession counts across the season. A key part in Boronia’s premiership-winning campaign in Eastern’s Division 2 this year, which lost just one match all season.

Mitch Mellis: The lightning-quick 22-year-old midfielder took home Eastern’s Division 2 best and fairest this season, and was a key part of a Boronia outfit which has finished top of the ladder season on the way to the flag. Ruck rover in the Team of the Year.

Saturday also sees Ben Robertson’s 150th senior game for the Hawka. Robbo has been the Hawks goal kicking spearhead for the past few seasons, as a reliable scorer with a big, booming kick. 

Robbo has proven he is a great clubman having also helped coach our boys Under 19s squad.

Appointment of Under 19’s Coaches

Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club Inc. is proud to announce the appointment of Pierre Schumann to the role of Under 19’s Coach for season 2021.

We are also delighted to announce that Pierre will be joined by senior players Ben Robertson and Sean Young as Assistant Coaches. Robbo has been involved with the Under 19’s for several years while Youngy joins the panel in his first year at Boronia. We expect a couple more announcements in the very near future.

Pierre is a former junior and senior premiership player of our Club and brings with him a wealth of coaching experience to our Under 19 player cohort. I was fortunate to have Pierre as my development coach in a ‘previous life’ at another club and I can guarantee you our players will get a passionate, caring, and knowledgeable coach who drives high standards and behaviours that mirror the culture and values of our senior club.

Pierre’s record as a local coach in relation to premiership success is second to none.  Having coached 6 teams to premierships, Pierre has an intricate understanding on what is required to create sustained team success.

Shoey, it is fantastic to have you back at ‘The Hawka’ and we look forward to watching you prepare and develop our senior players of the future!
