The division will now consist of ten teams, South Belgrave have been promoted to Division One after their Grand Final win over Ringwood this year while Oakleigh District have been relegated to Division Three after going winless in 2022.
Replacing them is the Waverley Blues and Upper Ferntree Gully. The Waverley Blues were promoted after their thrilling two-point Grand Final win in Division Three, they’ll start their season campaign in 2023 against Templestowe at home where they’ll have the chance to unfurl the flag. For Upper Ferntree Gully, they’ll be looking to snap their current losing steak when they play Knox in the first round of the 2023 season.
A top five finals system will still be in place, beginning on August 19th with the Grand Final date set for September 10th.
The success of our Women’s Football Program continues following the announcement that Boronia Hawks will play in Premier Division in 2022.
The Eastern Football Netball League has released the divisional structure for the top tiers of Women’s Football yesterday, featuring the inclusion of new teams Mount Evelyn and Eastern Devils. Premier Division is split in to two sections, with cross-over rounds featuring teams between Premier A and Premier B.
Boronia coaches Scott Nicholas and Candyce Wright have welcomed the announcement as an exciting opportunity for our players and both are looking forward to the challenge.
Senior President, Greg Hannon said that “Our players now have the opportunity to play against the highest standard of players and teams in the Eastern Suburbs. This will be a huge challenge for our playing cohort but one that I’m sure their coaches and players are very much looking forward to. We wish our female players the very best in 2022 in their new competition”.
The 2022 EFNL Men’s Fixture for 2022 has just been released and we are very pleased to return to a traditional 18 game home and away season with 10 teams.
We welcome newcomers Oakleigh Districts to Tormore Reserve in Round 2 after travelling to Mulgrave for the season opener on 2nd April. We can look forward to two local derbies against The Basin. We renew acquaintances with the relegated Knox and the promoted East Burwood, while Ringwood remain in Division after declining promotion to Division 1 as Minor Premiers.
Dear Past Players, As a former player at the BHFNC we hope your association with us doesn’t completely diminish over time. Our club has always had a proud tradition of making former players most welcome when they visit our club for a home game at ‘The Hawka!’ We actually have a huge past player community that does support the club on a regular basis and our culture of inclusion has never been stronger. Other clubs marvel at our past player support on game day and when we reflect on its success, the answer lies in our capacity to make past players and supporters feel most welcome.
Whether through Murra’s Past Players & Supporters Group or Bomma’s Hawks Nest Coterie Group, we tend to be able to reach out to the 100’s of past players that have once donned the brown and gold jumper throughout each year and give them feedback on our proud clubs progress. This year, I’d love to be able to give more PP than ever before face to face feedback.
After the tumultuous year of 2020, I’m reaching out to all past players to make an extra effort to get down to the club at some stage throughout season 2021. It really is like groundhog day when you do visit, the same voices, the same characters and we will make sure you enjoy the experience.
This year our playing list is as strong as it has been for many a year. Our coaching group is excited about our prospects and we really hope to build on the PP community to make the effort to re-visit our club. Our home game dates are as follows:
APRIL 17 V MULGRAVE
MAY 1 V HEATHMONT
MAY 8 V THE BASIN
MAY 22 V RINGWOOD
JUNE 5 V MULGRAVE
JUNE 19 V SOUTH BELGRAVE
JULY 10 V TEMPLESTOWE
JULY 24 V KNOX
AUG 7 V SOUTH BELGRAVE
Whether you played 100 games or 2, you have all left a legacy at our club. We very much look forward to seeing you all at some stage at The Hawka in season 2021!
“Please find attached a timeline that the League is working to with AFL Victoria and the other Metropolitan Leagues. We believe a united approach is critical to working through and making any decisions on Competitions. Hopefully this provides some clarity at least in terms of key dates and when you can expect to hear further updates”.
