Congratulations to Stacey Ponton as she plays her 50th Game for Boronia.
Pont has been one of the most skilled players our Women’s Squad has seen since she started towards the end of our inaugural year. Spending time at both ends of the ground, Pont has spent the majority of the last few seasons at half back.
Her great football IQ, ability to read the play and penetrating kick saw her finish Runner Up in the D Squad Best and Fairest in 2021, before playing mostly Senior football since.
Congratulations Pont!
As part of Women’s Coaching Month AFL Victoria are recognising coaches right across community football, including our very own Under 9’s Mixed coach Dakota Walker.
“This is her second year with the children and they adore her. The boys and girls all gravitate to her and she is setting a wonderful example for others”. Dakota is a huge asset to BHFNC and we thank her for her ongoing contributions to the club.
At Tormore Reserve on Friday 28th of July, the Krenn Brothers, Greg and Colin laced up their boots and donned the Brown and Gold to take the field for the very last time.
The word legend gets bandied around quite a bit these days, but these guys definitely fit the mantle of Club Legends. With their dedicated service, they have undoubtedly made a significant impact on this proud football club, and their contributions will be remembered for many years to come.
It’s not uncommon for players who have been with a club for a long time to become ingrained in its culture and history, and the Krenn brothers are no exception. Their commitment and passion for the Club through playing, coaching, sponsorship and being on various Committee’s over 35 years have been inspiring to both their fellow teammates and the club’s many supporters on the hill.
As they step away from the playing field, it’s essential to acknowledge their invaluable contributions and express a great deal of gratitude for their dedication.
Football clubs are more than just teams; they are communities, and players like Hollywood and Stick play a vital role in shaping the culture and spirit at BHFNC.
While their playing days at Boronia may be coming to an end, their impact and influence will continue to resonate within the club. Their legacy will live on through the memories and experiences they shared with their teammates on and off the field and the positive influence they have had on everyone at the Hawka. We have and continue to be blessed by having them around.
As they move on to the next chapter of their lives, I’m sure all Boronia Hawks club people will always hold a special place in their hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing and playing with them.
Here’s to Greg and Colin Krenn, wishing them all the best for the future and thanking them for the incredible contributions they’ve made to the Boronia Hawks.
This Friday Night under lights at Tormore Reserve, we come together to bid a heartfelt farewell to our Men’s Vets Coach, Greg “Supercoach” Joseph.
After eight remarkable years at the helm, Joey has decided to hang up his white board and embark on a well-deserved coaching retirement.
Although we feel a tinge of sadness, it is with immense gratitude we celebrate what he leaves behind. Through his leadership and support, he has cultivated a team of has-beens and misfits, transforming them into a tightly-knit bunch of blokes that stands as a testament to his remarkable character.
And though success may not have always followed, it is important to recognize that the true measure of a coach lies not solely in the number of trophies but in the laughs and fun the players had on your journey. The impact Joey has had on this club cannot be overstated. He fostered a culture of camaraderie, resilience, and mateship, traits that will continue to shape the Vets long after his departure.
His departure leaves a void that cannot be easily filled, but we know that you leave with your head held high and the knowledge that you have positively impacted the blokes around you. Your legacy will live on in the memories, the stories, the spirit and the sportsmanship of Boronia Vets and we are thankful that you will still be around the club offering support. Hopefully, the boys will put in another solid performance on Friday and send you out on a winning note.
Thanks Joey. #Supercoach #Mateship
This week Erin Nicholas lines up for her 50th game with the Hawka Women’s Squad with the same unwavering resilience and determination as she has done over the last 5 seasonS.
Erin has been a part of our squad since the inception of the women’s program and her leadership qualities and exceptional character has set a remarkable example for others to follow. Her ability to overcome obstacles with grace and strength further solidifies her reputation as one of our most consistent players and leaders in the Development Team.
Congratulations Erin!
Saturday also sees Ben Robertson’s 150th senior game for the Hawka. Robbo has been the Hawks goal kicking spearhead for the past few seasons, as a reliable scorer with a big, booming kick.
Robbo has proven he is a great clubman having also helped coach our boys Under 19s squad.
Congratulations on your 150th game Robbo!
