A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SCOTT NICHOLAS AND TEAM

BHFNC is indebted to the contribution Scott Nicholas has made to our women’s program since its inception. Scott has been a driving force in promoting the women’s program, recruiting for the women’s program, and coaching the women’s program!

His energy and drive have seen our program not only grow but win a Division 1 Women’s premiership in 2023. Scott should reflect on his contribution and be incredibly proud of all his achievements during his tenure. Concluding with three adult female teams at our club is one hell of an accolade!

Scott’s advocacy and passion were also at the forefront of the recruiting of his replacement in Sean Buncle who has, indeed, big shoes to fill!

I also wish to acknowledge Ray Lacey, Karen Little, Candyce Harris, and Jordan Granland who were with Scott at the very beginning and have all played a significant role in creating and developing our senior women’s program. On behalf of everyone at the club, thank you!

  • Karen Little from Boronia Hawks Women's Football.

Although Scott will no longer be the Head Coach, he will not disappear from the club and will still be heavily involved in supporting Sean and growing our female program in the years ahead. On behalf of the Board and the Committee and all supporters of our club Scott, great job, and thank you!

SENIOR MEN’S COACHING APPOINTMENTS

Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce that following the announcement in August that Matt Clark has signed as Senior Coach for 2024, the full coaching panel for the men’s senior team has also recommitted for the coming season. We are grateful to have this strong group of experienced coaches who are able to develop the team as both people and as players. Please join us in thanking Matt Clark, Steve Teakel, Drew O’Hare, Luke Hannon and Dale Hudson for their loyalty and commitment to the Hawks.

Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce that former senior player, Mark ‘Owie’ O’Neil has been appointed Veterans Coach for the 2024 season.

Owie has had a long association with the Vets, and has been Greg Joseph’s right hand man in previous seasons. We wish Owie the very best in his new role. He has big shoes to fill but Mark has a great footy pedigree.

Boronia Vets are grateful to Awesome Conveyancing and GK Travel & Cruise for their loyal support.

The Committee of the BHFNC is absolutely delighted to announce the re-appointment of Matt Clark as our Senior Men’s Coach for next season.

Matt, our senior coach since 2018, has driven standards; has supported the growth of our talented list; has supported the development of our aspiring leaders; has assisted in the continued development of our strong club culture; and has given our club stability and respect amongst our peers.

Matt’s capacity to build positive relationships with all club stakeholders holds in him great esteem. We are most fortunate to have Matt as our senior coach and we look forward to working alongside him once again in season 2024 to continue his great legacy!

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL COACHING PANEL

Congratulations to the Coaching Team for our Women’s Squad at Boronia Hawks who have all contributed so much to the 2023 Division 1 Premiership.

They have created a close-knit environment for our players to develop their footy, fitness and friendships.

A special shoutout to Ray Lacey and Scott Nicholas who have been leading the team since our startup in late 2017, preparing for our first season in 2018. Who would have thought a premiership would result only a few years later when it took half a season to score the first goal!

Congratulations and thank you to Coach Scott Nicholas and assistants Ray Lacey, Brad Slater, Candyce Wright, Erin Stanios, Jordan Granland, Lachy Watson, Nicole Guy and Tim Cavanagh.

Women’s Coaching Month | Dakota Walker

As part of Women’s Coaching Month AFL Victoria are recognising coaches right across community football, including our very own Under 9’s Mixed coach Dakota Walker.

Dakota Walker, Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club – Junior

“This is her second year with the children and they adore her. The boys and girls all gravitate to her and she is setting a wonderful example for others”. Dakota is a huge asset to BHFNC and we thank her for her ongoing contributions to the club.

SUPERCOACH BOWS OUT | GREG JOSEPH

This Friday Night under lights at Tormore Reserve, we come together to bid a heartfelt farewell to our Men’s Vets Coach, Greg “Supercoach” Joseph.

After eight remarkable years at the helm, Joey has decided to hang up his white board and embark on a well-deserved coaching retirement.

Although we feel a tinge of sadness, it is with immense gratitude we celebrate what he leaves behind. Through his leadership and support, he has cultivated a team of has-beens and misfits, transforming them into a tightly-knit bunch of blokes that stands as a testament to his remarkable character.

And though success may not have always followed, it is important to recognize that the true measure of a coach lies not solely in the number of trophies but in the laughs and fun the players had on your journey. The impact Joey has had on this club cannot be overstated. He fostered a culture of camaraderie, resilience, and mateship, traits that will continue to shape the Vets long after his departure.

His departure leaves a void that cannot be easily filled, but we know that you leave with your head held high and the knowledge that you have positively impacted the blokes around you. Your legacy will live on in the memories, the stories, the spirit and the sportsmanship of Boronia Vets and we are thankful that you will still be around the club offering support. Hopefully, the boys will put in another solid performance on Friday and send you out on a winning note.

Thanks Joey. #Supercoach #Mateship
