Congratulations Jackson Taylor MP in retaining the seat of Bayswater. With the results of yesterday’s election the Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club, Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club – Junior and Boronia Cricket Club have now secured the unprecedented amount of $6.2 million for our new facility. The next 24 months will see a lot of work being done in the planning and building of our new rooms! Go Hawka!

Thank you to all of those who took the time to complete our Brand Survey at the end of the 2022 season. The stakeholder survey was in relation to the brand, including the logo, uniform and merchandise colours.
We had a positive level of engagement with approximately 10% of playing members completing the survey, as well as many other stakeholders from across the club.
There were very passionate responses both for and against keeping the logo in its current form and varying opinions about the colours of uniform and off-field items. In the end, it was clear that the logo will remain in its current form.

Confirmation of this allows us to push ahead with other projects like refreshing merchandise and the website.
Thank you again to everyone who participated!
A service to honour the life of Mark Grice will be held on Monday 21st November at 1:00pm at Heritage and Heritage Funerals at 733 Boronia Road, Wantirna.

Mourners are invited to also attend a wake from 3:00pm at the Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club Clubrooms at Tormore Reserve, Tormore Road Boronia.
The entire BHFNC should be mighty proud of its efforts over the past four weeks of hosting the Division One finals series.
The EFNL and competing clubs were lost for words in their gratitude for the organisation and efforts of our many, many volunteers over the month!
Headed up by Murra, our team worked cohesively and the many long days will now hold our club in greater financial strength as we move forward to our 2023 season.

To our early morning set up teams, to our bar teams, our burger teams, and canteen ladies, our traffic controllers, and our hlepers who kept carrying out stock to all the various tents, what an effort. In the coming few weeks we will be having a pleasant Sunday afternoon of thanks to all our helpers, I’ll get that date and time locked in ASAP.
Once all the bills are paid, we hope to announce our profit as it’s important all volunteers understand just how meaningful it is to the club to give so much of their time over the past four weekends.
Behind the scenes, we are working most nights to speak with potential recruits, plan our pre-season, reflect with trainers, and work diligently to ensure 2023 is an amazing year for the Hawka! Our coaches in all areas are now appointed and we hope you can all join us at one of our two presentation nights to properly give thanks and gratitude for this season.
Sincerely, thank you once again!!!
GREG HANNON, Senior President, BHFNC
One of our key objectives as a club is to make life easier for our volunteers by upgrading our facilities, equipment and technology whenever possible. With this in mind, we have recently invested in a brand new kitchen range for Tormore Reserve.

The purchase of the oven, griller and deep fryer was funded by the Club, together with a generous contribution from our co-tenants Boronia Cricket Club. For those who may not know, Ellen Johnson manages the kitchen and canteen for both clubs, doing a superb job throughout the seasons. Ellen is now supported by premium equipment to turn out match day snacks and regular meals for the teams and supporters on Wednesday and Thursday nights during the football season.
We are very grateful to Craig Brockley, our super-successful Men’s Development Squad Coach, who installed the new equipment through his firm, Brighton Gas Company. “Brighton Gas specialises in the servicing and repairs of gas products in Melbourne. When it comes to the servicing and repairs of gas heating for your home or gas cooking appliance repairs and servicing we can help”.
On behalf of the senior committee, I’d like to wish everyone a restful and enjoyable summer break. Our club, like all clubs, has survived two extraordinary years that we could never plan for. Our club is in a great place thanks to the tireless work of our Board, Committees, Coaches and a loyal and dedicated playing group.
My New Year’s wish is for an uninterrupted season, we all deserve that! Surely that’s not too aspirational!!!!! I feel so sorry for the teams that had premiership hopes for this season. It is what it is but it’s still shattering for our coaches and players!
The behind the scenes work our coaches have done to ensure the well being of our players will never be fully realised, but I know what they have done and greatly appreciate their incredible efforts in keeping our players healthy. We are truly blessed to have the quality of coaches we do have in both football programs and our club is just so grateful for your work, kindness and dedication.
Our football managers in Karen, Ash and Wrighty don’t stop. We are always working at improving our lists and we are quietly confident that our lists for 2022 will be strong and be able to compete in what is looking like really even and competitive divisions for our male and female teams.
The senior club is already busy planning for events such as our first Presidents Luncheon. David “The Ox” Schwartz is our first speaker, with Luckmans Catering already locked in! Our Corporate Golf Day at the magnificent Eastwood Golf Club is being managed by Hollywood, and Leanne Rech is project managing our 90th Birthday Celebration Dinner which promises to be huge! Phil, Sammi, Wayne and Grant did a great job with our Christmas Fun Run and Nath Allen is planning a huge season of incredible social events!!!
A special thank you to Bomma and Leanne for managing our highly successful Hawks Nest Coterie. The work you do in building a cohesive community of past players and supporters is difficult to measure, but it is massive!!!!
Our incredible grants team led by Kerryn Westcott has secured a number of grants that will pay for things such as a new bain marie, new ice machine, iPads and a new fridge freezer. We also have nets being installed behind the goals at the club house end of the ground over summer.
We cannot run a club the size of Boronia without our dedicated volunteers. I sincerely thank you all. You are the lifeblood of our club and you are all the very best of people! If you are thinking of getting on board to help out, just ask and we will welcome you with open arms! We know we have to share the load and we are delegating more tasks than ever before as we can’t afford to burn out good people!
All in all, the club is in a good place. We have solid and meaningful direction across all leadership groups from Coterie to Playing Leadership Groups to Coaches to Committees to the Board. I wish all volunteers, all players and supporters a great Christmas and I’ll see you back down at the club in the new year.
Greg “Flash” Hannon, Senior President

Dear Past Players,
As a former player at the BHFNC we hope your association with us doesn’t completely diminish over time. Our club has always had a proud tradition of making former players most welcome when they visit our club for a home game at ‘The Hawka!’ We actually have a huge past player community that does support the club on a regular basis and our culture of inclusion has never been stronger. Other clubs marvel at our past player support on game day and when we reflect on its success, the answer lies in our capacity to make past players and supporters feel most welcome.
Whether through Murra’s Past Players & Supporters Group or Bomma’s Hawks Nest Coterie Group, we tend to be able to reach out to the 100’s of past players that have once donned the brown and gold jumper throughout each year and give them feedback on our proud clubs progress. This year, I’d love to be able to give more PP than ever before face to face feedback.
After the tumultuous year of 2020, I’m reaching out to all past players to make an extra effort to get down to the club at some stage throughout season 2021. It really is like groundhog day when you do visit, the same voices, the same characters and we will make sure you enjoy the experience.
This year our playing list is as strong as it has been for many a year. Our coaching group is excited about our prospects and we really hope to build on the PP community to make the effort to re-visit our club. Our home game dates are as follows:
Whether you played 100 games or 2, you have all left a legacy at our club. We very much look forward to seeing you all at some stage at The Hawka in season 2021!
Greg “Flash” Hannon, Senior President, Boronia Hawks
