WELCOME TO BORONIA | CLEO SMITH

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Cleo Smith to Boronia in 2024.

Cleo is an 18 year old currently part of the Eastern Ranges Coates Talent League Squad, and after playing two games in 2023, will be looking to be a consistent performer in 2024. Joining us from Wantirna South, Cleo plays predominantly in the ruck, has great hands and agility for her size, and can play in a number of other roles. We’re excited to support Cleo’s development and can’t wait to see her in brown and gold this season.

WELCOME TO BORONIA | MIKAYLA McNAMARA

We’re excited to welcome Mikayla McNamara to Boronia in 2024!

Mac has an accomplished netball career previously playing at a high-level, and after playing a handful of games with Ferntree Gully in 2022, she is back to give football another crack. An elite combination of size, strength, athleticism and overhead marking ability we’re excited to see Mac develop over the course of the season with the Hawks.

WELCOME TO BORONIA | SHARNA ARMSTRONG

Boronia Hawks FNC is very pleased to announce the third of our new players for the 2024 Senior Women’s squad. After training with the squad last season, we’re excited to welcome Sharna Armstrong to the Hawks in 2024!

Sharna played her junior football at The Basin, before transitioning to coaching juniors at Boronia over the past few seasons. Sharna is already showing great physicality and football smarts at training and we can’t wait to see her in Brown and Gold this season, along with coaching the Under 14 Girls.

WELCOME TO BORONIA | LUCY McLENNAN

Boronia Hawks FNC is very pleased to announce the second of our new players for the 2024 Senior Women’s squad. Please join us all in welcoming Lucy McLennan to the Club.

Lucy has hit the track hard since the beginning of 2024 and we’re excited to see her take her talents from the basketball court to the footy field this season! Welcome Lucy, we’re very excited to have you in brown and gold.

JUMPER FITTINGS | SENIOR WOMEN & MASTERS

Get yourself set for Season 2024 by getting fitted for a new Boronia playing jumper. All new players will need to have jumpers ordered and all current players are welcome to order new sleeveless or long sleeve jumpers as well. Please come along to try the jumpers on for correct sizing next week during training.

SQUAD UPDATE | EMILY WELLINGTON & MACKENZIE SUPPA

Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club is very pleased to announce the first of our new players for the 2024 Senior Women’s squad. Emily Wellington has joined the club to play with her former teammate Mackenzie Suppa, who has also signed up for the new season. Please join us all in welcoming Em to the Club and thanking Macka for her commitment to the Hawks.

We’re excited to welcome Emily Wellington down to Boronia after last playing with Blackburn in Under 18 Premier. Em has been training the house down before Christmas and impressed with her skills, attitude and training intensity. We can’t wait to see her in brown and gold in 2024.

Macka is back on board for season 2024! One of our most skilled and exciting young players, Mackenzie joined the Hawks in 2023 and showed a great football IQ and goal sense in three games, but missed time due to injury throughout the season. The sky is the limit and we can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store!

RECOMMITTED FOR 2024 | JOAN DEKKER

Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce that another of our premiership players has re-committed for the 2024 season. Please join us all in thanking Joan Dekker for her commitment to the Hawks.

Joan joined Boronia in 2023 and had immediate impact for our Senior team. After playing most of her football in defence, Joan excelled in the ruck with her athleticism, run and tackling pressure adding a lot to our midfield. We can’t wait to see Joan’s development continue in 2024.

2024 COACHING APPOINTMENT | PERIL

Boronia Hawks are delighted to announce that Stacey Peril has been reappointed as Masters Coach for the 2024 season.

Stacey was our inaugural coach in 2023 and lead the team through their first season as the player numbers grew along with the team development and enjoyment. Stacey has played with Boronia since 2018 and in 2023 she played her 50th game and also represented Vic Country in Masters Football. She has been actively involved with the Hawks as a junior mum, committee member, junior coach, senior player and now continues as Masters Coach.

Please join us all in thanking Stacey for her loyalty and commitment to the Hawks.

RECOMMITTED FOR 2024 | BAXTER, BIRKETT, CHINN and FLANAGAN

Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce that another four of our best players have all re-committed for the 2024 season. Please join us all in thanking Olivia Baxter, Matilda Birkett, Crystal Chinn and Holly Flanagan for their commitment to the Hawks.

Olivia has been a reliable contributor since joing the Hawks in 2021. Playing most of her football on the wing and in the midfield, Liv was one of the Dev Squad’s strongest players in 2023. Liv is a hard, aggressive player with a long penetrating kick and really stood up against strong opposition last year. It’s great to see Liv back on board, and ready for another year in brown and gold!

Matilda joined us from Vermont and owned her position on the wing throughout the season. Tilly’s strengths are her fierce competitiveness, hard running and tackling. She continued to develop throughout the season and is just scratching the surface. She plays well against the best sides and really stepped up in the Finals against Park Orchards and The Basin. We can’t wait to see Tilly in brown and gold again in 2024!

Chinny has been a huge part of our squad since joining Boronia in 2022. Great skills, great hands and a strong leading mark, Chinny has mostly played up forward over the past few seasons. After spending some time playing across half back in 2023, Chinny is contiuing to develop and expand her game, and we can’t wait to see one of our squad’s most popular players back in brown and gold for 2024!

Holly is ready and raring to go for 2024, after finishing her first season with the Hawks in 2023. Playing mostly as a forward and through the midfield Holly showed her skills, footy smarts and ability to find the ball in her 9 games this year. Although her season was interupted with injury, she has quickly established herself as a favourite amongst teammates, and a pivotal player in our Premiership side, and we can’t wait to see Holly in action next year!
