PREMIERSHIP CUPS ON TOUR | Jackson Taylor MP

Our local member for Bayswater, Jackson Taylor MP has been a long-time supporter of the club and from the moment he was first elected he has been in our corner working to secure $1.2 million towards our new clubrooms.

What many people won’t know is that he worked tirelessly behind the scenes in helping us navigate a path forward and generating momentum to ultimately make the new clubroom a reality. Quite simply, without his help the new clubroom may not have happened.

His love of the Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club shone through on Grand Final day as he cheered nervously from the outer wing all kitted out in his Hawka merch.

As the premiership cup tour continues, a stop off at his Bayswater office beckoned and it was great to show him the silverware up close and to grab a photo.

Many politicians have come and gone after promising the world to us, but Jackson has been a man of his word and for that we can’t thank him enough!

$1.2M for the new Clubrooms

From our great supporter, Jackson Taylor MP: “$1.2 million to help deliver a new pavilion at Tormore Reserve in Boronia is now fully funded. In other words – you beauty!”

It was a four year journey for me since elected in 2018 to get to the commitment of $1.2 million to deliver new facilities for Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club and Boronia Cricket Club, but it’s been an even longer journey for them.

So this is an exciting moment. With funding now in the budget that means we can move a step closer to delivering the facilities these legends and the broader community deserve.

$1 million will go towards delivering the new pavilion and $200,000 will go to helping the clubs fit-out the rooms – which means a lot of the stress that usually comes with a new home.

It’s no secret. I’m a massive supporter of grassroots sports and unashamedly so. I believe in it’s power to change lives.

And with these new facilities – it’ll make that job even easier and encourage more people to get involved, particularly girls and women who maybe couldn’t have due to the dated facilities not being fit for purpose.

This will change all that. Now, let’s get on with it!

Jackson’s ongoing support of our Club has been nothing short of remarkable since he was elected as our local member. His tireless energy and capacity to always engage in our club community have been astounding and it is very much appreciated from a club level. Jackson, we thank you sincerely!!

Upon re-election, the Andrews Government has most generously pledged the sum of $1.0M towards our new pavilion and $0.2M towards the fit-out of the new pavilion and social rooms. The $0.2M will enable us to purchase quality appliances and furniture and should set our club up for many years to come!

With the pledge of $5.0M from Alan Tudge MP and the Federal Government, this now amounts to $6.0M towards our badly needed new pavilion. The players, supporters, and members of the Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club and Boronia Cricket Club will soon have one of the finest pavilions in the Eastern Suburbs thanks to the incredible support of both Jackson and Alan.

New Grant from Victorian Government

Thanks once again to Jackson Taylor MP for his great support of our Club through the COVID-19 support package for community sport and recreation bodies.

It is a tough time for all community clubs, and our footy and netball players and supporters are naturally disappointed, but understanding of the cancellation of our senior seasons. It is good to know that you and Dan Andrews are looking out for the grassroots sporting clubs that are so important to suburban and country Victoria.

Thank you also to our Special K Team, Karen Little and Kerryn Westcott who are doing a brilliant job in seeking grants for the Club to support our programs. We are very grateful to these two ladies who put in the time and effort to work through complicated grants applications for the benefit of all club members.
