50 GAMES | ERIN NICHOLAS

This week Erin Nicholas lines up for her 50th game with the Hawka Women’s Squad with the same unwavering resilience and determination as she has done over the last 5 seasonS.

Erin has been a part of our squad since the inception of the women’s program and her leadership qualities and exceptional character has set a remarkable example for others to follow. Her ability to overcome obstacles with grace and strength further solidifies her reputation as one of our most consistent players and leaders in the Development Team.

Congratulations Erin!

150 GAMES | BEN ROBERTSON

Saturday also sees Ben Robertson’s 150th senior game for the Hawka. Robbo has been the Hawks goal kicking spearhead for the past few seasons, as a reliable scorer with a big, booming kick.

Robbo has proven he is a great clubman having also helped coach our boys Under 19s squad.

Congratulations on your 150th game Robbo!

150 GAMES | LACHIE WATSON

This weekend sees Lachie Watson play his 150th game of Senior football for the Hawka. Lachie also played 110 games across his junior and U18s career for Boronia. In that time Lachie has been a consistent scorer, notching up 214 senior goals to date.

Renowned for his amazing leaping prowess, we are super pleased to see Lachie reach this milestone after a number of injury setbacks over the years. Lachie has also contributed a significant amount of his time to the club as assistant coach to the Senior Women’s Squad over the past few seasons.

Congratulations on your 150th game Watto!

200 GAMES | JESS BOLTON

At home against East Burwood this Saturday, a true great of our club, Jess Bolton, will pull on his brown and gold jumper for his 200th senior game.

This is a tremendous feat and something that all players and supporters should acknowledge and celebrate! Jess is a senior premiership player, a dual Bob Henry Medalist, a well-respected and valued team mate and most importantly, he is an outstanding role model for our younger players.

Jess, on behalf of the members, supporters, and players of our club, we thank you for your outstanding contribution to the BHFNC and look forward to your ongoing involvement at our club into the future.

150th Game for Ryan Henderson

Congratulations to Ryan Henderson who will play his 150th game for Boronia in today’s Preliminary Final at East Burwood.

The big hearted follower came to the Hawks in 2012 and has been a magnificent competitor ever since.  Ryan has taken on the biggest (and ugliest) blokes the opposition can throw at him in the ruck, and loves to slip forward for a big mark and goal.

200th Game for Matt Buzinskas

200 GAMES Matt Buzinskas

Please join us all in congratulating Matt Buzinskas on the occasion of this 200th Senior Game for Boronia Hawks in Round 17.

This is a massive achievement, with very few players reaching this milestone with the Hawks in recent years.  Even more remarkable is that Buzz has played at four other clubs during his career.

In fact, Buzz has racked up well over 350 games in total if we add on 89 junior games for Boronia; a junior season at North Ringwood; a senior premiership at Forrest in 2005, 17 games for Watsonia; and 17 games for Wantirna South!

Buzz has been a standout player for Boronia since his senior debut in 2006 as a seventeen year old, but with a rig and attitude well prepared for senior footy.  He has only played 2 games of Under 18’s footy and only 16 Reserves games so he has been a fixture in the senior team as an inside mid and crumbing forward.

The Rig – 2015

Buzz’s goal sense has been a feature of his game, with 208 senior goals for the Hawka and a best of 7 in one game back in 2007.  There has been no greater sight in recent years than Buzz charging through the guts to kick a team-lifting goal then running back to the middle with a modest celebration as the Hawka faithful raise their voices, and cans,  to salute another Buzz special!

Buzz is a true champion of the Club.  He provides a great example for our young players and is still playing tremendous footy in 2019.  Congratulations to Buzz from everyone at Boronia Hawks.  We wish him, and his family, our very best wishes for his  milestone game and for many more to come.  We can’t wait to see him teaming up with Woody and Stifler in the Vets!

  • Senior Co-Captain in 2015.
  • 2018 Senior Premiership player.
  • 2012 Reserves Premiership player.

Robbo joined the Hawks from Monash Blues in 2010 and spent two years with us before heading back to the Ammo’s in 2012.  He returned to Tormore Reserve in 2016, even bigger and stronger than before,  with over 100 games of VAFA football under his belt.  Since then Robbo has been an absolute rock for the Hawks and his team-mates know that the big “orange roughie” always has their back.

Robbo currently sit on 98 goals for the Club, so let’s hope he can celebrate the double in his milestone game!

Milestone Games for Boronia Hawks

Congratulations to Jess Bolton who will play his 150th Senior Game for @boroniahawks on Saturday.

Jess is a true champion of the Club and two-time Bob Henry Medallist. He was originally a Boronia Junior but left for East Burwood to play 74 games between 2005 and 2007 including 20 games in Division 1 Seniors. Bolts came back to Boronia in 2009 to make his senior debut for the Hawka. He also played 19 VFL games for Casey Scorpions / Demons between 2009 and 2012 before committing 100% to Boronia in 2013.

Jess is one of our most decorated players of any era in the Club’s history. His record includes: Boronia U15’s B&F in 2003; Bob Henry Medallist for Senior Best & Fairest in 2012 and 2014; 2013 and 2017 Senior Runners Up B&F; Senior Captain in 2014; 2016 Seniors Best Team Player; 100th Game Medal in 2015; EFL Division 3 Team of the Year in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 & 2017. U19’s Assistant Coach 2016-17. Please join us all is congratulating Jess on his fantastic career achievement of 150 senior games for the Hawks.

Congratulations to Nathan Allen who played his 150th Senior Game for @boroniahawks back in Round 8. (Explanation and apology below).

Nathan, with twin brother Nick started with Boronia Auskick in 1997 before moving on to Boronia Juniors for Under 10’s. He played 100 junior games between 2000 and 2006 and captained the team to finals twice. He had is U18’s debut in 2006 while captain of our Under 16A’s, followed by his senior debut in 2008. Nathan won the EFL’s medal as U18’s Best & Fairest in Division 3 in 2008. He was named Senior Vice – Captain in 2014 and Senior Co-Captain in 2015.

Nate’s career has been dogged by several major injuries which prevented him from playing many more games for the Hawks. A noted mud lark, Nater is never happier than when the going is at it’s toughest and he can give his all for the Hawka. He is also the only bloke with a legitimate Club blazer! Please join us all is congratulating Nathan on his fantastic career achievement of 150 senior games for the Hawks.

Now, please let me explain: there was a spreadsheet error back in 2016 which meant that Nater’s three finals that year were not included in his game total. This was only discovered recently when checking the games tally for Andy Phillips. So Nathan actually plays his 153rd senior game on Saturday. Apologies to Nathan and his family for this unfortunate miscalculation.

Andy Phillips will play his 50th Senior Game for @boroniahawks on Saturday. He was recruited from Boronia Juniors in 2014 where he played over 100 games. He debuted in the Under 19’s in 2014 and then made his senior debut in in that same year, playing 4 games in the firsts. Andy did not play in 2017 due to injury and study commitments, but has bounced back in 2018 to burn off the opposition on the wing once again. Well done Andy!
