RETIREMENT OF CLUB LEGENDS | THE KRENN BROTHERS

At Tormore Reserve on Friday 28th of July, the Krenn Brothers, Greg and Colin laced up their boots and donned the Brown and Gold to take the field for the very last time.

Colin and Greg Krenn

The word legend gets bandied around quite a bit these days, but these guys definitely fit the mantle of Club Legends. With their dedicated service, they have undoubtedly made a significant impact on this proud football club, and their contributions will be remembered for many years to come.

Colin Krenn

It’s not uncommon for players who have been with a club for a long time to become ingrained in its culture and history, and the Krenn brothers are no exception. Their commitment and passion for the Club through playing, coaching, sponsorship and being on various Committee’s over 35 years have been inspiring to both their fellow teammates and the club’s many supporters on the hill.

Greg Krenn

As they step away from the playing field, it’s essential to acknowledge their invaluable contributions and express a great deal of gratitude for their dedication.

Football clubs are more than just teams; they are communities, and players like Hollywood and Stick play a vital role in shaping the culture and spirit at BHFNC.

While their playing days at Boronia may be coming to an end, their impact and influence will continue to resonate within the club. Their legacy will live on through the memories and experiences they shared with their teammates on and off the field and the positive influence they have had on everyone at the Hawka. We have and continue to be blessed by having them around.

As they move on to the next chapter of their lives, I’m sure all Boronia Hawks club people will always hold a special place in their hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing and playing with them.

Here’s to Greg and Colin Krenn, wishing them all the best for the future and thanking them for the incredible contributions they’ve made to the Boronia Hawks.

SUPERCOACH BOWS OUT | GREG JOSEPH

This Friday Night under lights at Tormore Reserve, we come together to bid a heartfelt farewell to our Men’s Vets Coach, Greg “Supercoach” Joseph.

After eight remarkable years at the helm, Joey has decided to hang up his white board and embark on a well-deserved coaching retirement.

Although we feel a tinge of sadness, it is with immense gratitude we celebrate what he leaves behind. Through his leadership and support, he has cultivated a team of has-beens and misfits, transforming them into a tightly-knit bunch of blokes that stands as a testament to his remarkable character.

And though success may not have always followed, it is important to recognize that the true measure of a coach lies not solely in the number of trophies but in the laughs and fun the players had on your journey. The impact Joey has had on this club cannot be overstated. He fostered a culture of camaraderie, resilience, and mateship, traits that will continue to shape the Vets long after his departure.

His departure leaves a void that cannot be easily filled, but we know that you leave with your head held high and the knowledge that you have positively impacted the blokes around you. Your legacy will live on in the memories, the stories, the spirit and the sportsmanship of Boronia Vets and we are thankful that you will still be around the club offering support. Hopefully, the boys will put in another solid performance on Friday and send you out on a winning note.

Thanks Joey. #Supercoach #Mateship

150 GAMES | BEN ROBERTSON

Saturday also sees Ben Robertson’s 150th senior game for the Hawka. Robbo has been the Hawks goal kicking spearhead for the past few seasons, as a reliable scorer with a big, booming kick.

Robbo has proven he is a great clubman having also helped coach our boys Under 19s squad.

Congratulations on your 150th game Robbo!

150 GAMES | LACHIE WATSON

This weekend sees Lachie Watson play his 150th game of Senior football for the Hawka. Lachie also played 110 games across his junior and U18s career for Boronia. In that time Lachie has been a consistent scorer, notching up 214 senior goals to date.

Renowned for his amazing leaping prowess, we are super pleased to see Lachie reach this milestone after a number of injury setbacks over the years. Lachie has also contributed a significant amount of his time to the club as assistant coach to the Senior Women’s Squad over the past few seasons.

Congratulations on your 150th game Watto!

Headspace Community Cup

On Saturday, our Senior Men played The Basin at Batterham Park for the Headspace Community Cup.

Like all games against our local rival The Basin, the game was played in great spirit with our boys prevailing in the very windy conditions.

Both teams gathered post-game to hear from both Coaches on the importance of reaching out if you are experiencing a personal crisis.

If you are a player, coach, volunteer or supporter please reach out to a friend or teammate and let them know you need help.

Please check out our Club Wellbeing Hub or contact Lifeline 13 11 14 or visit Headspace CLICK HERE.

MESSAGE TO ALL BHFNC PLAYERS, MEMBERS, AND SUPPORTERS

I wanted to write to you all to address an incident on Saturday during our senior game, between our captain Harry Burgess and Templestowe’s Cameron Cloke. As a result of this incident, both players have been offered penalties for the reported conduct.

The BHFNC has decided to accept the penalty offered to Harry.

As a club, we pride ourselves on teaching and playing the game with the right spirit and Harry has consistently demonstrated nothing other than commendable conduct throughout his playing career.

We extend our best wishes to Cameron Cloke and the Templestowe Football Club.
