DEVELOPMENT TEAM COACH | GREG HALL

We are thrilled to announce Greg Hall as the Boronia Women’s Development Team Coach for 2025. Greg comes to us with a wealth of football experience in a number of roles, and an enthusiasm and excitement to be a part of our growing women’s program.

Greg is no stranger to Boronia, previously captaining the Boronia Hawks Vets for two seasons and has been seeking an opportunity to rejoin the club. Other football roles have included Senior Assistant and Interim Senior Coach at Nunawading where Greg played over 100 Senior games, while also being the Football Operations Manager and a key contributor in the formation of Nunawading’s Women’s program, who have been part of the EFNL for the past four seasons.

Greg will bring great communication and football knowledge, and a genuine passion for developing and mentoring young people and new players to the game to achieve their goals. Greg joins our new Senior Women’s Head Coach Sean Buncle in leading our program into 2025 and beyond. We’ll be announcing more coaching appointments over the course of the next week as we continue to build our momentum for the upcoming season.

We’re seeking new players for our Under 18 Girls, Senior and Development Women’s sides and Women’s Master, all player enquiries can be directed to Women’s Football Manager Scott Nicholas 0403 238 494 or boronia@efnl.org.au.

2025 COACHING APPOINTMENTS

Boronia Hawks FNC is proud to announce that STEVE TEAKEL and DREW O’HARE have recommitted to roles as assistant coaches with the senior men’s team for the 2025 season. Together with our Senior Coach, Matt Clark, we believe this to be an extremely strong coaching panel. Steve and Drew are enormously respected within the club and throughout the league.

Steve’s experience, his level headedness and his football knowledge built over so many years of involvement at a local level makes him the perfect foil for Matt Clark. The two men are close friends, they have coached together for many years now and complement each other. Teaks is an absolute asset to our club and we hope he has many more years of coaching involvement at the ‘Hawka.’

Drew has been a respected and admired coach at Boronia for many, many years and is a Life Member of the Club. One of the most passionate and committed of Boronia people, Drew brings a wealth of football and club knowledge to the table and we are so grateful for his continued service to our club.

Please join us all in thanking Steve and Drew for their loyalty and commitment to the Hawks.

WELCOME TO THE HAWKS | MITCHELL SMITH & TYSON SPURR

Boronia Hawks FNC is very excited to announce the signing of TYSON SPURR and MITCHELL SMITH for the 2025 season.

Tyson played A grade junior footy at Wantirna South and The Basin, playing in multiple final series. He took the past 18 months off to focus on an opportunity to play in the senior basketball team at school and competed in two Australian School Championships. He is now very eager to get back into footy and ready to covert his basketball IQ onto the footy field. Mitch has played all his junior career at Knox and can play good footy down back or up forward as a flanker.

Please join us all in welcoming them to our 2025 Under 19’s.

WELCOME TO BORONIA | WILLIAM JONES

Boronia Hawks FNC is thrilled to announce the signing of WILLIAM JONES for the 2025 season.

After two standout years playing U17s A Grade at North Ringwood, while also splitting his time with Eastern Ranges, William is eager to join Boronia under the newly formed coaching group of Luke, Begs and Jayden. As a ruckman, he’s ready to take the next step in his football journey, and we’re excited to see his growth and contribution in both U19s and seniors. Welcome to the Hawks, William!

BACK TO BORONIA | JAMES HOFFMAN

Boronia Hawks FNC is excited to announce that JAMES HOFFMAN is #backtoboronia and has signed to play again in 2025, which will be his fourth senior season with the Hawks.

Hoff took the season off in 2023 and played some games in the Outer East but is now back home. Like many of our squad, he started with the Hawks in Under 9’s and played a massive 132 junior games. He played a lot of very good footy in the 19’s, and was a premiership player in 2018. A foundation member of “The Fortress”, the renowned defensive unit of the Dev. Squad, Hoff will be a very welcome player to have back at the Hawka for many years yet.

WELCOME TO DANIEL HOUEIX

Boronia Hawks FNC is thrilled to announce the signing of DANIEL HOUEIX for the coming seasons. Daniel brings a wealth of experience from his playing and coaching roles within the EFNL, most notably as a member of the 2023 Mitcham senior premiership team and as an assistant coach for the Mitcham U19.5 team. His playing background also includes time with Eastern Ranges.

On the professional side, Dan is currently with the EFNL in the important role of Junior Football Manager. He “spent the last 6 years working at the Collingwood Football Club across several roles, including Member and Fan Operations Coordinator and Consumer Operations Manager as well as assisting in the Collingwood VFL and VFLW operation teams”. That’s a great resume.

Daniel’s leadership and knowledge of Division 1 will be a fantastic addition to the Hawks. As Daniel said “The opportunity and fresh start with a good bunch of lads really excites me, and especially after speaking with Clarky last week, I’m excited with what we can achieve in Division 1“.

Please join us all in welcoming Dan to the Hawks.

BACK TO BORONIA | JAYDEN PURDON

Boronia Hawks FNC is extremely happy to announce that JAYDEN PURDON has signed to return to Boronia in 2025, which will be his fifth season of senior football with the Hawks.

Jayden played 40 under 19’s games with Boronia, winning the David Murrihy Medal for B&F in 2016 and runner-up in 2017. He also played in the back to back Reserves premierships in 2018/19. He spent the last two seasons at FTG, his original junior club, and played both seasons in the one’s. With great skills and balance, we are delighted to welcome Purdo back to Tormore.

COACHING OPPORTUNITY | WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Boronia Hawks FNC welcomes expressions of interest for the role of Women’s Development Team Coach for the 2025 EFNL season.

We have an exciting and growing Women’s Football Program and our coaching team is led by Sean Buncle, a former VFLW premiership coach with Port Melbourne. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the coaching staff and take game day responsibility for our Development Team. We are open to a playing or non-playing coach, and are very happy to assist a candidate who is keen to start their own coaching journey.

Please reach out to Sean Buncle or Scott Nicholas via email boronia@efnl.org.au no later than Monday 7 October.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SCOTT NICHOLAS AND TEAM

BHFNC is indebted to the contribution Scott Nicholas has made to our women’s program since its inception. Scott has been a driving force in promoting the women’s program, recruiting for the women’s program, and coaching the women’s program!

His energy and drive have seen our program not only grow but win a Division 1 Women’s premiership in 2023. Scott should reflect on his contribution and be incredibly proud of all his achievements during his tenure. Concluding with three adult female teams at our club is one hell of an accolade!

Scott’s advocacy and passion were also at the forefront of the recruiting of his replacement in Sean Buncle who has, indeed, big shoes to fill!

I also wish to acknowledge Ray Lacey, Karen Little, Candyce Harris, and Jordan Granland who were with Scott at the very beginning and have all played a significant role in creating and developing our senior women’s program. On behalf of everyone at the club, thank you!

  • Karen Little from Boronia Hawks Women's Football.

Although Scott will no longer be the Head Coach, he will not disappear from the club and will still be heavily involved in supporting Sean and growing our female program in the years ahead. On behalf of the Board and the Committee and all supporters of our club Scott, great job, and thank you!
