BHFNC Board Update

There has been a couple of changes with the Club’s Board of Directors.

Firstly, we farewell Kerryn Westcott, Director of Community & Inclusion. Kerryn is stepping down from the board to focus on her many other volunteer roles. Kerryn has done a phenomenal amount of work for the club, sourcing every grant possible to improve our facilities and offer more to our community. She will be sorely missed but we wish her all the best.

Secondly, we welcome Veronica Rankin into the role of Director of Administration for 2023. Veronica is no stranger to the club, her son has played in our junior ranks and now a member of our Men’s program. Veronica has been a past under 19s Team Manager, one of the most organised, so we are so pleased to have her leading the charge in all things admin this year. Tanya Parkins will step in one last time helping us get Veronica up to speed, we thank her again for her support.

We are still on the hunt for a Director of Finance – if you or you know someone who is interested please reach out to Kat McMahon akathleen@me.com

At this stage, we won’t formally replace the Director of Community & Inclusion, however if this role is of interest to you please also reach out.

Chairperson, Kat McMahon

Dean Grice is Back to Boronia

Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club are very happy and excited to announce to all our supporters that DEAN GRICE has committed to the Club for the 2023 season.  We are also delighted to let you all know  that Dean will wear his father’s number 13 on his back in 2023.

Dean is a six-time winner of the Bob Henry Medal for senior Best & Fairest at Boronia. He also won four League B&F medals in seniors and one in the Colts. He was named six times in the EFNL Team of the Year. Dean has played a total of 150 senior games for Boronia and kicked 169 goals after a strong junior career for the Hawks with more B&F medals. Dean played senior VFL football with Port Melbourne in 2012 until a serious knee injury in his eighth game.

The Grice family needs no introduction to long time supporters of Boronia. Dean’s dad, Mark, was a stalwart player with the club during the late 70’s and early 80’s and went on to be senior Team Manager for several years when Dean was at his peak. Mark tragically passed away in November 2022.  Dean’s mum, Jan, has been a much loved and valued volunteer at the club for many, many years.

Jan and Mark Grice

Following Mark’s passing, Dean returned to the club in January of this year. He hasn’t missed a session and is keen to continue his legacy at the club. We ask all players and supporters to welcome him back to the club he loves, and to give Dean and Jan all our love and support for the coming season.

Andy Phillips is Back!

Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce that ANDY PHILLIPS is #backtoboronia and has committed to the Club for the 2023 season.

Andy is a “One Club Player” with the Hawks from 2007 to 2022 with a career total of 183 games and 46 goals. Andy made both his Under 19’s and Senior debut in 2014. He has now played 58 games in the firsts and kicked 12 goals. He was a Senior Premiership Player in 2018 and won the Most Determined Player Award that year.

Andy will add skills and pace to the line up and we are very happy to welcome back Andy and parents Lindy and Brad.

Welcome to Mitch Jelo!

Boronia Hawks are delighted to announce that MITCH JELO has joined the club for the 2023 season.

Mitch played his junior career at Narre Warren North before moving across to Noble Park in 2019, where he has played all his senior football. He is a hard running midfielder, who is also dangerous around goals.

Mitch Jelo with Senior Coach, Matt Clark.

We are really looking forward to having Mitch on board with his experience from the Noble Park football program – the reigning premiers in EFNL Premier Division. Please join us in welcoming Mitch and family to the Hawks.
