SUPERCOACH BOWS OUT | GREG JOSEPH

This Friday Night under lights at Tormore Reserve, we come together to bid a heartfelt farewell to our Men’s Vets Coach, Greg “Supercoach” Joseph.

After eight remarkable years at the helm, Joey has decided to hang up his white board and embark on a well-deserved coaching retirement.

Although we feel a tinge of sadness, it is with immense gratitude we celebrate what he leaves behind. Through his leadership and support, he has cultivated a team of has-beens and misfits, transforming them into a tightly-knit bunch of blokes that stands as a testament to his remarkable character.

And though success may not have always followed, it is important to recognize that the true measure of a coach lies not solely in the number of trophies but in the laughs and fun the players had on your journey. The impact Joey has had on this club cannot be overstated. He fostered a culture of camaraderie, resilience, and mateship, traits that will continue to shape the Vets long after his departure.

His departure leaves a void that cannot be easily filled, but we know that you leave with your head held high and the knowledge that you have positively impacted the blokes around you. Your legacy will live on in the memories, the stories, the spirit and the sportsmanship of Boronia Vets and we are thankful that you will still be around the club offering support. Hopefully, the boys will put in another solid performance on Friday and send you out on a winning note.

Thanks Joey. #Supercoach #Mateship

DEFINING OUR BRAND | PROJECT COMPLETE

With the launch of our new hoodies this now completes an extensive project that we embarked on way back in August 2022 with our Brand Review survey. Information gained from this survey enabled us to take a closer look at our logo, colours and existing merch range.

A small team was formed soon after the survey and we went about establishing guidelines for our brand and conducting a complete review of potential suppliers of our merch. One supplier in particular stood out as they were professional and innovative from the outset and offered a service model that met our brief – they were ‘Your Clubroom’.

We officially engaged Your Clubroom in November last year to go about documenting our brand and to create options for us to consider for our new merch range. This included a review of colours, materials, and size fitment options – unisex and women. As a result, we have slowly rolled out a new range of beanies, scarfs, training shorts and singlets, polos, and last week, our new hoodies.

Today we are pleased to showcase our official documentation of this process – Boronia Hawks – Defining the Brand 2023. This has been a long journey, but I’d like to thank YOU, our passionate members for your feedback along the way. A special thanks to Jayden & Damon from Your Clubroom who supported our vision and guided us along the way. Lastly to Karen Butler and Maria Gagic who have been there from day one and will now manage selling our new range. Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy wearing our new merch!

THE HAWKA MID-YEAR REVIEW | FROM THE PRES.

Our Senior President, Greg “Flash” Hannon has a message for the club community at the mid-point of the season as we head into the June long weekend.

It’s hard to fathom that we are at the halfway point of the season already. What’s not hard to fathom is that our teams are having great success which is not only due to talent but also hard work from the Board, Committee, Coaches, and the army of Volunteers that continue to support our club!

So – I wish to acknowledge and thank the following:

~ Our players are all just quality people and terrific ambassadors for our club! Keep supporting our functions and keep using your drive, energy, and initiatives to make our club grow and improve.

~ Our coaching staff are not just great coaches but they all build meaningful relationships with their players and care about the wellbeing of each individual at our club.

~ Our Incredible volunteers range from Committee Members to Board Members to the many that just give a little of their time to ensure our club can tick along nicely. Without our volunteers, we just don’t have a club so a huge thank you to you all!

~ To our Hawks Nest Coterie leadership, our Coterie members and to all our supportersthat give our club undivided support on and off the field.

~ Our loyal sponsors. Our sponsors give us the funding that we require to operate a successful club. Thank you to all of you!

~ To the families of our players. Your support behind the scenes often goes unnoticed. You feed, clean, and offer emotional support to your child, husband, wife, partner, parent and we thank you for that. I’m sure our players do!

$1.2M for the new Clubrooms

From our great supporter, Jackson Taylor MP: “$1.2 million to help deliver a new pavilion at Tormore Reserve in Boronia is now fully funded. In other words – you beauty!”

It was a four year journey for me since elected in 2018 to get to the commitment of $1.2 million to deliver new facilities for Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club and Boronia Cricket Club, but it’s been an even longer journey for them.

So this is an exciting moment. With funding now in the budget that means we can move a step closer to delivering the facilities these legends and the broader community deserve.

$1 million will go towards delivering the new pavilion and $200,000 will go to helping the clubs fit-out the rooms – which means a lot of the stress that usually comes with a new home.

It’s no secret. I’m a massive supporter of grassroots sports and unashamedly so. I believe in it’s power to change lives.

And with these new facilities – it’ll make that job even easier and encourage more people to get involved, particularly girls and women who maybe couldn’t have due to the dated facilities not being fit for purpose.

This will change all that. Now, let’s get on with it!

Jackson Taylor MP

MESSAGE TO ALL BHFNC PLAYERS, MEMBERS, AND SUPPORTERS

I wanted to write to you all to address an incident on Saturday during our senior game, between our captain Harry Burgess and Templestowe’s Cameron Cloke. As a result of this incident, both players have been offered penalties for the reported conduct.

The BHFNC has decided to accept the penalty offered to Harry.

As a club, we pride ourselves on teaching and playing the game with the right spirit and Harry has consistently demonstrated nothing other than commendable conduct throughout his playing career.

We extend our best wishes to Cameron Cloke and the Templestowe Football Club.
