All skills and abilities are very welcome – only a couple of our girls had ever played footy before last season!

The EFL has recently advised the Clubs of the EFL Divisional Structure for 2019. Boronia Hawks will be in Division 2, which is still the third division in the competition following the introduction of Premier Division. We will have a Final Four series for the right to win the premiership and promotion to Division 1.
Boronia will be joined in Division 2 by the bottom two teams of last year’s Division 2 – Mulgrave and Mitcham, Meanwhile the bottom 6 of our 2018 opponents will drop to the new Division 3.
“The new Competition structure is contained below and outlines which Clubs are in which Division for Season 2019. In the 10 Team Competitions (Premier and Division 1), the Top 5 sides will play finals and in the 8/9 Team Competitions (Division 2, 3, 4) the Top 4 sides will play finals. Promotion and relegation will continue to operate as per previous years with the Premiership winning clubs being promoted to higher divisions and clubs who finish on the bottom of the ladder being relegated to lower divisions where applicable.”
The Club’s AGM is coming up very soon and we already have nominees willing to stand for many roles. But we also have vacancies where we are looking for Club members to take us forward in to 2019. We seek expressions of interest from all sections of our Club: seniors or juniors, football or netball, men’s or women’s teams. All our volunteers work together to support and guide newbies!
If you would like to become more involved in our great Club please have a word with Kristan Wood, Ellisa Schmidtke or any of our current Board or senior and junior committee members. (Scott Nicholas is off in Nepal right now, so you can contact Dave Nicholas instead).
Roles without any nominees at the moment are:
Director, Inclusion / Community;
Senior Secretary;
Junior Treasurer;
Sponsorship Manager;
Merchandise Manager;
General Committee members for both Juniors and Seniors.
Some of these roles used to be big and scary, but we have managed to share the load and set up processes to make our administrative jobs much easier than they once were. It is all about TEAMWORK. We would love to hear from you!
Congratulations to Mitch Mellis from Boronia Hawks who capped off a terrific year in the TAC Cup by winning the Pennington Medal for Best and Fairest with Eastern Ranges.
Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce that Jack Hare, brother of Luke, will be joining the Club for 2019.
Jack is a young gun who played two years with Eastern Ranges and also played for Vic Metro Under 16’s.He won the EFL Under 15B Best and Fairest with Knox and has spent the last two seasons with Wantirna South.Please get around Jack and welcome him to Tormore Reserve.
Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce that Luke Hare will play with the Club again in 2019 after missing all of the 2018 season with work commitments. Luke had a very successful junior career playing in five A grade flags for Knox before coming to Tormore Reserve in 2017. His strengths are his leg speed and a raking left foot kick which enables him to hit up his targets or boot a long bomb goal.
Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Granland as Assistant Coach for our Development Squad in 2019.
Greg is no stranger to the Club as the father of Jordan Granland and has been a regular at our games over recent years. Greg has a strong background as a junior and youth coach and has very recently completed his Level 2 Coaching Accreditation.
He has coached Under 15’s, Under 17’s and Under 19’s with The Basin over the past few years and has been successful in coaching all his teams to finals.
Greg has also been involved in coaching the EFL’s junior inter-league teams over the past five years, which again demonstrates his capabilities and recognition as a coach.
Greg has a passion for developing young footballers and now has a fantastic opportunity to work with Craig Brockley, our Development Squad Coach, and our exciting group of young players.
We are also willing to forget the memorable incident when he split open our Chairman’s head during a Vets game a few years ago! Please congratulate Greg on joining the Hawka and make him feel welcome when he joins us for the 2019 season.
