Congratulations to Rachel Slater for being awarded the Blue Ribbon Medal for her outstanding Best on Ground performance in the Division 1 Grand Final.

Despite a heavy tag, Rachael’s performance proved to be decisive in a tight contest. According to Premier Data she had 24 disposals, 16 contested possessions, 6 marks (inc. 5 intercept marks), 4 clearances, 11 inside 50s, 7 tackles, 1 gamebreaking goal and 163 Ranking Points.

With both men’s teams earning a break leading into their finals campaigns, our Senior Women’s team was all the focus today – storming their way into their very first Grand Final next week.

APPRECIATION OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Candyce Wright invited family and friends to gather in the rooms this morning for the pre-game activities for the Women’s Dev. Team.

Darcy Langford (C) and Erin Nicholas (VC) spoke about their journey with the women’s squad over the past six seasons. Dave Nicholas gave his perspective on the women’s program as a parent and volunteer. Maddy Suppa finished off by talking about her move to the club for 2023, remarking on the welcoming and supportive coaches and team mates.

Congratulations to Stacey Ponton as she plays her 50th Game for Boronia.

Pont has been one of the most skilled players our Women’s Squad has seen since she started towards the end of our inaugural year. Spending time at both ends of the ground, Pont has spent the majority of the last few seasons at half back.

Her great football IQ, ability to read the play and penetrating kick saw her finish Runner Up in the D Squad Best and Fairest in 2021, before playing mostly Senior football since.

2024 RE-SIGNINGS | HANNON x 2

BHFNC is excited to announce that both Luke & Josh Hannon, have re-signed for the 2024 season.

Luke Hannon played in the 2018 senior premiership is a dual Bob Henry Medalist, a senior assistant coach, and a classic utility player.

Josh Hannon played in the 2018 premiership and is having a break out year in 2023 as the dominant ruck of the competition who has rarely beaten all season!

Chloe joined our Women’s Squad it its inaugural year and has been a valued part of our program ever since. She has continued to develop her skillset as a ruck, while often helping others harness their own skill sets.

She has taken the game on this season after making an epic come back from injury at the start of the season, Proving she is a huge asset to our team.

Chloe has shown her genuine passion for assisting our Under 16 girls teams in their development; investing time and effort to mentor and nurture their skills to help them grow into great footballers.

This week Erin Nicholas lines up for her 50th game with the Hawka Women’s Squad with the same unwavering resilience and determination as she has done over the last 5 seasonS. 

Erin has been a part of our squad since the inception of the women’s program and her leadership qualities and exceptional character has set a remarkable example for others to follow. Her ability to overcome obstacles with grace and strength further solidifies her reputation as one of our most consistent players and leaders in the Development Team.
