COACHING OPPORTUNITY | WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Boronia Hawks FNC welcomes expressions of interest for the role of Women’s Development Team Coach for the 2025 EFNL season.

We have an exciting and growing Women’s Football Program and our coaching team is led by Sean Buncle, a former VFLW premiership coach with Port Melbourne. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the coaching staff and take game day responsibility for our Development Team. We are open to a playing or non-playing coach, and are very happy to assist a candidate who is keen to start their own coaching journey.

Please reach out to Sean Buncle or Scott Nicholas via email boronia@efnl.org.au no later than Monday 7 October.

CUPS ON TOUR | RITCHIES EAST RINGWOOD IGA

A big thank you to Peter Nelsson and RITCHIES EAST RINGWOOD IGA, one of our Gold Sponsors in 2024, for their great support this year. Ritchies IGA is the official liquor suppler for the Hawks, and we are always very happy with their service. Here is Pete with our three premiership cups and flags. Please join us in thanking Pete and the team at Ritchies IGA every time you enjoy your favourite beverage at the Hawks.

CUPS ON TOUR | ALLSTATE REFRIGERATION SERVICES

A huge thank to Kristan Wood and ALLSTATE REFRIGERATION SERVICES, one of our Gold Sponsors in 2024, for their generous and loyal support over many years. Woody is part of the lifeblood of the club and has contributed an enormous amount on and off the field.

Here he is with our three premiership cups and flags. Please join us in thanking Woody and the great team at Allstate for their fantastic support of our programs from Juniors and Seniors through to Masters and Veterans.

60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY | MICK and KAY KIMMITT

Please join us all in wishing a very Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary to two of our absolute legends, Kay and Mick Kimmitt! These two love birds are so much a part of the fabric of our club and we are indeed so fortunate to have them.

Both are Life Members because of their unfailing devotion in volunteering at the Hawka. In fact, our Club Person of the Year Award is named in their honour. Two sons – Peter and Robert – are also Life Members of the club, so the family’s contribution to Boronia over several decades is immense, and is a continuing legacy. To achieve a Diamond Wedding Anniversary is a wonderful event and we wish them both a very happy celebration with their family.

CUPS ON TOUR | PROFINISH ROOF PLUMBING

We love seeing past players come back to the Hawka and especially when they can give back to the club via sponsorship. Adam Maloney aka Gilba played 130 games for the Hawks and knows how hard premierships are to win, so it was great to share our recent success by grabbing a photo with him and our premiership cups!

Profinish are a local business that specialise in residential and commercial roof plumbing. They cover all aspects of metal roof plumbing, fascia gutters, re-roofing, wall cladding, repairs and new roofs. Please join us in thanking the Gilba and the team at Profinish Roof Plumbing for their fantastic support in 2024.

CUPS ON TOUR | BORONIA McDONALDS

A huge thank to Boronia McDonalds, one of our Platinum Sponsors in 2024, for their generous and loyal support. Here is Steve Shillington with our three premiership cups and flags. Please join us in thanking the Steve and the team at Boronia McDonalds for their fantastic support of our Auskick, Junior and Senior Football Programs.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SCOTT NICHOLAS AND TEAM

BHFNC is indebted to the contribution Scott Nicholas has made to our women’s program since its inception. Scott has been a driving force in promoting the women’s program, recruiting for the women’s program, and coaching the women’s program!

His energy and drive have seen our program not only grow but win a Division 1 Women’s premiership in 2023. Scott should reflect on his contribution and be incredibly proud of all his achievements during his tenure. Concluding with three adult female teams at our club is one hell of an accolade!

Scott’s advocacy and passion were also at the forefront of the recruiting of his replacement in Sean Buncle who has, indeed, big shoes to fill!

I also wish to acknowledge Ray Lacey, Karen Little, Candyce Harris, and Jordan Granland who were with Scott at the very beginning and have all played a significant role in creating and developing our senior women’s program. On behalf of everyone at the club, thank you!

  • Karen Little from Boronia Hawks Women's Football.

Although Scott will no longer be the Head Coach, he will not disappear from the club and will still be heavily involved in supporting Sean and growing our female program in the years ahead. On behalf of the Board and the Committee and all supporters of our club Scott, great job, and thank you!

CUPS ON TOUR | HAWKS NEST COTERIE GROUP

A huge thank to Hawks Nest Coterie, one of our Platinum Sponsors in 2024, for their generous and loyal support. Here we are with Bomma Kimmitt, Panda Green, Dillio Rech and Leanne Rech with our three premiership cups and flags. Please join us in thanking the Coterie Exec and all the loyal members.

NEW HEAD COACH FOR SENIOR WOMEN’S TEAM

Boronia Hawks Football Netball Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of SEAN BUNCLE as our new Head Coach of the Senior Women’s team for the 2025 season. Sean brings an impressive resume and a wealth of experience from the highest levels of women’s football, most notably his successful tenure as coach of the Port Melbourne VFLW team, where he led them to the 2023 VFLW Premiership.

With a deep understanding of the game and a proven track record of success, Sean’s arrival marks a significant step in the continued growth and development of our women’s football program. His leadership and insight, gained from a number of years coaching at the elite level, are expected to further elevate the Boronia Hawks’ standing within the local women’s football community.

Sean Buncle’s coaching journey is underpinned by a passion for developing players and fostering a successful and respectful environment and culture. His success with Port Melbourne in guiding them to the 2023 VFLW premiership is a testament to his coaching acumen and his ability to bring out the best in his teams. We are confident that his expertise will be instrumental in driving our Senior Women’s team to further heights in the coming seasons.

Sean Buncle

“I’m honoured to be appointed as the new senior women’s coach of the Boronia Hawks. There’s a great sense of pride in the program within the community, and I look forward to building on the fantastic work that has put it in such a strong position. I’m looking forward to working with the talented group of players here and building on the strong foundations already in place.”

The club would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the incredible contribution of SCOTT NICHOLAS, our outgoing coach. Scott has been the driving force behind the establishment, growth, and success of our women’s football program—a program that is now the envy of many clubs. His dedication and vision have created a platform that has attracted a coach of Sean’s calibre, and for that, we owe Scott an immense debt of gratitude.

Scott Nicholas

Scott leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered for years to come. His leadership has played a pivotal role in making our women’s football program one of the most respected in the competition, and his impact on our women’s football program will be felt for years to come. As we look toward the 2025 season, the Boronia Hawks are excited about what the future holds with Sean Buncle at the helm. His appointment represents not just a new chapter, but a continuation of the commitment to growth, development and excellence that has defined the Boronia Hawks Senior Women’s program from its inception.
