U19’s Coaching Appointment

Boronia Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Wright as the 2017 under 19s coach.

Andrew has played over 200 games of senior football at both FTG and Forest Hill and coached at Junior level for 7 years. He has intimate knowledge of the overall football program, strong communication skills and undoubted enthusiasm for developing young men. All this makes him the ideal candidate for this role.  Andrew will commence contacting the 19s playing list in the immediate future.

2017 Preseason is off and running!

A great turnout on Wednesday for @boroniahawks with about 65 on the track and many supporters along to see the boys in action.

Peter Brown put them through a good solid skills session to set the standard and expectations for 2017. Four of the signed recruits were there for their first night, a couple of “possibles”, and a handful of old favourites coming back to Boronia after missing a season or two. Kate had a trainers meeting and Andrew Catley was there looking on despite reluctantly stepping down as U19’s coach due to work commitments.

Things look very good at this stage of the year.

Boronia Football Club Recruiting Announcement #5

Boronia Football Club is very pleased to welcome Aiden Santamaria from Knox.

Aiden’s career highlights are a Junior Best & Fairest at Rowville; and his time in the EFL U16 Inter-league side, where he was Vice Captain and the Inter-league Best & Fairest winner.  Aiden also spent four years with Eastern Ranges.   Aiden can’t wait to get around the boys and get stuck into a big preseason.

New Direction 2017: Announcement of Boronia Football Club Board

As a result of Identifying the need to prevent overworked and burnt-out committee members and volunteers, the Boronia Football Club would like to introduce the New Direction 2017.

The structure of the board will now take shape of a directorship where the President will be the Chairman. There will be five other directors i.e. Administration (Secretary), Finance (Treasurer), Football Operations, Community Engagement and Social. Each of the directors will hold portfolios with attached managers. These managers will report to the directors monthly who in turn will report on their portfolios at a directors meeting.

There will be no need for the managers to attend directors meetings unless it is a special circumstance.  The number of managers and people assisting the director in a specific portfolio is unlimited. We hope to have many volunteers taking up small roles rather than a small amount taking up numerous roles. A lot of EFL clubs are adopting this structure and we hope at BFC that it will be successful and able us to move the club forward from 2017.

Portfolios will appear on the Website shortly and as Managers are appointed they will be announced  on the BFC website.

  • Chairman:  Kristan Wood 0411 605 203

2016 Presentation Night

The 2016 Presentation Night for @boroniahawks was a great success last night as well over 200 guests enjoyed the hospitality of our Platinum Sponsor, the Knox Club. The evening was a celebration not only of the 2016 season, but also of the club’s past as four great servants of the Hawka were elevated to Life Membership.

The netballers were well represented last night after all three teams had successful seasons and made the finals. We are very grateful for their contribution in 2016 as the girls continue to bring a whole new aspect to our club.

So many speakers on the night, including the great Bob Henry, highlighted the huge impact that Peter Brown has made to the club in 2016, aided by the strategic leadership of Kristan Wood and Ash Johnston, and the support of our dedicated and passionate committee. All agreed that the opportunity is there for a very exciting future for the club in 2017 and beyond.

Many thanks to the Knox Club, everyone who joined us last night, and to the organisers of the function, particularly Ellen Johnson, Michelle Beaton, Sandra Bell and Scott Nicholas.

Six from Six for BoroniaFC Netball – presented by Busybodies

Two weeks, six games, six wins.  Boronia’s netballers are on track for the finals after clean sheets in rounds 11 and 12 of the Netball EFL season.

In Round 12, it was a great win in Premier Division with Boronia Hawks defeating nemesis Eastern Lions Yellow by 62 to 50 to retain top spot.  Boronia Gold notched up the second netball win for the weekend with a 16 goal victory over Norwood Black.  Gold are 2nd on the ladder and looking good for the finals.  Boronia Brown have surged up the ladder to 3rd after a thumping win over Forest Hill Green by 34 goals. Finals are now a real chance for the girls!
