MESSAGE FROM PETER BROWN – Senior Coach of Boronia Football Club

Firstly, let me say a big Happy New Year to all involved at the Boronia Football Club. Here’s to 2017, seeing us take a step or two closer, towards our ultimate goal.

The improvements in 2016 across our three senior sides, will see us being the hunted, so we need to strive to improve ourselves further, to keep ahead of the pack and close the gap on the top four sides from 2016.

Already having a strong playing list, this will be bolstered by our recruitment over the off season, to strengthen our squad with depth, along with more quality youngsters coming through our junior ranks.

This has me emphasising how prepared we all must be, come Monday 30th of January.

Don’t start behind, as a tough pre season awaits us, which will lead into a tough footy season, with rewards to be had at seasons end, if we all continue to work hard together.

Don’t be that weak link!

Brownie

2018 Senior Fixture

The Eastern Football League has released the 2018 Senior Fixtures. You can check the fixtures for all four divisions by clicking the link below, but here for your convenience is the all important fixture for @boroniahawks.

The 2018 Division 3 Fixture will see the Hawka away to Templestowe in Round 1 in a huge start to the season. Boronia will renew acquaintances with Waverley Blues from Division 2 and Donvale from Division 4 (both home games).  We have double derbies against traditional rivals The Basin, FTG and Scoresby, which will be our biggest home games for the year.

There are no easy games in Division 3 in 2018.  Next season will be extremely competitive, but is wide open for several clubs to challenge for the flag. Get to training boys!

U19’s Coaching Appointment

Boronia Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Wright as the 2017 under 19s coach.

Andrew has played over 200 games of senior football at both FTG and Forest Hill and coached at Junior level for 7 years. He has intimate knowledge of the overall football program, strong communication skills and undoubted enthusiasm for developing young men. All this makes him the ideal candidate for this role.  Andrew will commence contacting the 19s playing list in the immediate future.

2017 Preseason is off and running!

A great turnout on Wednesday for @boroniahawks with about 65 on the track and many supporters along to see the boys in action.

Peter Brown put them through a good solid skills session to set the standard and expectations for 2017. Four of the signed recruits were there for their first night, a couple of “possibles”, and a handful of old favourites coming back to Boronia after missing a season or two. Kate had a trainers meeting and Andrew Catley was there looking on despite reluctantly stepping down as U19’s coach due to work commitments.

Things look very good at this stage of the year.
