Under 17’s Coaching Announcement

BHFNC is delighted to announce the return of 1986 premiership player, Pierre Schumann as 2020 Under 17 Coach.

Left to Right: Andrew Catley (Junior Coaching Co-ordinator); Craig McKenzie (Under 19’s Coach); Kristan Wood (Junior President); Pierre Schumann (Under 17’s Coach) and Nick Wheeler (Under 17’s Assistant Coach).

Pierre has a long and distinguished career as both a player and coach. He has coached Under 19 teams to 4 premierships and reserves teams to 2 premierships at Knox Football Club. Only this year, Pierre was coach of a most successful Under 19’s side at Knox.

Supporting Pierre will be Nick Wheeler and Kim Brimelow. Nick has had coaching experience at Knox, Eastern Ranges and Upper Gully Football Clubs. Nick brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and he will be great support to Pierre. Kim also has a wealth of coaching experience and we are confident this coaching team will give our players the foundations required to be successful at the senior level.

We welcome Pierre, Kim and Nick to ‘The Hawka’ and wish them much enjoyment and success. Our club will now work tirelessly to ensure we have a robust list of players to work with.

Recruiting Announcement – presented by BARK KING

Boronia Hawks are very pleased to announce to all members and supporters that SEAN YOUNG will be joining the Club in 2020.

Sean played a season with Boronia in the Under 17’s Lacey Squad back in 2012. He then moved back to his junior club, Wantirna South, where he has played 115 senior games since, including the 2014 Premiership under Matt Clark and Steve Teakel.

Sean won the Under 19’s B&F at Wantirna South in 2013; he was runner-up in the EFL’s Trojan Young Gun Award; and he was named in the EFL’s Division 2 Team of the Year in 2017 as a key defender.

He is a great bloke with many mates at Boronia and will slot in very well. At 23 years of age, we are delighted to have Sean back to Boronia. Please make him feel very welcome!

Social Media Platforms

There has been some discussion over the past two days regarding access for our volunteers to the Club’s social media platforms. On behalf of the Club’s Board I would like to let all supporters know that it was agreed at our Board meeting in September that we will review and change our approach to Social Media as we head in to 2020.

There will be more news on this as our new Board and Committee members settle in to their roles over the next two months. The main objective is that the Club is fully compliant with best practice for the use of social media by community clubs. This is consistent with the Club’s Social Media Policy, which is available for your reference on our website.

A key component of our policy is that all volunteers publishing on behalf of the Club have undertaken appropriate training so that they fully understand our policy and our reasonable expectations in respect of social media posts by club members and supporters.  Please click on the link above to read the policy and feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
