Vale – Judi Greenwood

It is with great sadness that The Boronia Football Club learned of the passing of Judi Greenwood on Sunday morning after a short but very courageous fight. Judi was a great volunteer and supporter for many years. Everyone at The Boronia Football Club will miss her infectious smile and caring nature.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with Ian and extended family during this difficult time.

New Coach Announcement

The Boronia Football Club is pleased to announce that Marc Hardy will take over as senior coach effective immediately for seasons 2013/2014.

After being there about for the past few seasons the club is really excited about securing the services of a coach of Marc’s calibre.

His previous experience includes, 377 senior games in 1st and 2nd divi, 4 premierships (3 flags in 1st divi and 1 in 2nd divi being Rowville this season). He has coached for 6 seasons and won 2 flags, finished runners up once and 3rd once.

The experience, professionalism and knowledge that Marc brings with him is going to be a huge benefit forot only our young and talented list but the club as a whole.

On behalf of all at The Boronia Football Club we welcome Marc, Kate and the rest of the family to the Hawka.

I would also take this opportunity to thank Drew O’Hare for his enormous effort this season. His love of the club is second to none and he will be involved going forward. I can happily announce that Drew is taking on the role as Director of Football.

Go Hawka. Bring on 2013

Round 18

An absolutely fantastic day at the Hawka on the weekend with 3 big wins for our last home game of the season in front of a big crowd. The under 19’s and Ressies dominated their games and were both comfortable winners. The seniors sought and got redemption for an earlier defeat against Templestowe to run out winners by 5 goals. The victory now has us sitting 3rd and a win against Chirnside Park this week will secure the double chance. Templestowe, who were on equal points before Saturdays loss, have dropped to 8th spot. It’s not too good for the heart.

I’d like to thank all of our volunteers who get down early to set up for home games, especially Mick Kimmitt and Ellen Johnson. The whole place runs a lot easier with these guys donating so much time and effort. P.S. we still have finals to get through. Haha.

Also a quick thanks to Corey Mckernan for his chat at the Presidents lunch. He gives a great insight into the highs and lows of AFL footy.

The last home and away game this week sees us head off to Chirnside. With all 3 Hawka sides making finals I’d suggest a trip down Maroondah Hwy and show the lads your support before we all get back to the Knox Club and celebrate another 3 wins.
