** HAWKERTALK ROUND 4
————————————————————
Round 4
Seniors: The guys will be disappointed losing to Templestowe by 5 goals with the difference being they kicked 5 goals into the wind in the 3rd quarter.
Brett Castersen was BOG in his first senior appearance for the club with Dylan and Lukey Allison also in the best. Matt Jackson was the only multiple goalkicker with 4 majors.
Reserves: The boys were within arms reach of Templestowe most of the day but were over run in the last quarter losing by 52 points. Best were Cats, Ray McDonald & Beggsy while rookie Marc Hardy kicked 2 goals
Colts: The under 19’s were in control all game and ran out winners by 78 points.
Best were Jakey Godwin, Granland and Daniel Gerrard. Reddas kicked 5 sausage rolls.
Vets: The Vets got onto the winners list with a 35 point win. Best players were Whitts, Ravo, Stevo and Naffa again.
Netballers: Boronia Gold
Started pretty poorly again, our 1st qtrs seem to be a bit of an issue. 9 goals down at qtr time a few positional changes slowly climbed back into the contest down 5 at the half. Pressure was better in the second half causing plenty of turn overs 3 at 3/4 time. Big rev up saying we got this and keep pressure up and control turn overs took about 6 mins take the lead and played well enough to hold the lead til the end was a fantastic effort by all. BOG was Hayley for mine with Kellie honourable mention.
Boronia Brown
After a great start to the season with a 25 goal win we were trying to continue the winning start but found our selves up against a strong Scoresby team. Starting slowly we found ourselves 2 goals down at quarter time. This seemed to be the trend for the night continuing our slow starts to quarters finding ourselves 7 goals down midway through the 2nd and 3rd quarters but dragging it back to 2 at both changes. Finding 3 goals in a row to come within 1 with 5 min to go, this was as close as we got going down by 3. A scrappy game with plenty of opportunity and improvement but hopefully we can bounce back this week.
An even team performance with no standouts but a good return from Casey Hahn and a job well done by Alex McKaige playing partly out of position for a full game in centre
